Chapter 24 by Eastwood Eastwood

What's next?

A few hours later in the snow

You didn't know how much time had passed. Your feet hurt inside your boots, even if you barely felt them. Your fingers, besides the tightening of the strings on your wrist, were also there almost like phantom limbs that you could move, but you couldn't really feel them. The same could be said of your face.

The men continued to talk in a language you and Brent did not understand. Sometimes they spoke a few words in the common language just to provoke you with threats and insults.

When you decided to open your mouth to talk to Brent, you received a slap in the face from Bh’ollr's heavy hand that left you more awake. You didn't have a mirror, but you were sure his handprint was still on your white cheek.

You were without your utility belt, without your sword and without any weapon that could free you from the bonds of those wildlings. You were only wearing your clothes and blankets, which were not enough to keep you warm.

Sometimes, shivering with cold, you would curl up on your own axis and notice their leader, Thonjir, looking over his shoulder. This man spent the entire trip inspecting you from top to bottom. You didn't quite know what the wildlings did to the captured brothers, but you knew it wasn't a good thing.
