A dog
"There is nothing I really need for myself and I don't want to be in debt," You say after pondering for few seconds to consider options "But my uncle offers great dogs. Having a 3rd party member will benefit us a lot. You can trade a dog for those daggers, right, uncle?"
Your uncle happily nods but the adventurer doesn't seem to be very enthusiastic about the idea "I don't know. Neither of us has a nature class, taking an animal companion is a dubious strategy. They are not cost-effective for classes that don't specialize in them"
"Common" You artistically roll your eyes "Dog is a great addition to the party. Useful for spotting ambushes, useful in melee combat and won't require any loot share. And each of my uncle's dogs knows me already."
"Hmmm... At the very least it can be our meatshield...." Adventurer rubs his chin "OK, whatever. Let's take a dog."
"You won't regret this," You say with a bright smile and proceed with the choice. You choose a large brown dog of no particular breed and lead it outside.
"OK, I think we are done here. Let's go to the city to find some quests there?"

You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
