She was a dark elf. A type of elf that had adapted to life under the ground. They usually ended up being either architects, construction workers or scientists. It was all a result of life underground.
It wasn't easy to tunnel through the earth and not have to worry about cave-ins. It was also difficult for them to grow food. In ages past they would come to the surface and hunt food or raid villages. But now, with modern technology, they could simulate sunlight with lamps. This was still a developing way of life, so knowledge of physics or technology was greatly valued.
Like all elves, the dark elves had pointy ears and lived very long lives. Unlike other elves, dark elves always had white hair and dark skin. Their genetics simply didn't support anything different.
