Chapter 2
by Trigger Finger
Beyond the Door...
A Shimmering Light
The battle was off to a rough start, no matter what tactics Giovanna employed, she felt too sluggish and slow to keep pace with the witch. Hearing her taunting jabs, her flirting touches, she felt like she was being toyed with and she didn't like it. Just as she felt the battle turning in her favor, a chill runs over her spine for that split second. Next thing she sees is a kaleidoscope of colors changing and shifting as she falls through this empty space. It gave her a weightless feeling before reality sets in with a heavy thud, landing on her ass in the middle of the farm field. Looking around, this was definitely not where she had just been. Her guard still raised she hops to her feet, eyeing the surroundings for threats.
"Rei, try and sniff her out girl..." She says simply, her eyes bouncing around to no avail. There was no answer. "Rei?" she spins her head around, her usual companion and battle sister was nowhere to be seen, for perhaps the first time in her life she was completely and utterly alone. Fear starts to creep in before she shakes her head, channeling her feelings into usable anger. "What sort of illusion is this you witch?!" She calls out into the open air, fists still raised.
The soft and melodic voice of I-No transmits directly into her head. "Now now, no need to yell you know. How many times do I have to tell you how rude it is to call me that, I have a name you know..." There's a brief pause, feigning some sort of offense at the comment. "And I'll have you know this is no illusion, I simply crossed you into a different timeline, one where you were never born and the world seems in relative peace. Think of it as a vacation~" she teases.
Giovanna's head continues to whip around, confused by the statement and wondering just what the hell was going on here, she takes in her surroundings. As she put together, she was in the middle of a farm field, growing what looks like cabbages. In the distance she can see the low lights of small lanterns in a rural village. "Let me out of here or so help me-" Gio growls, her prominent canines presenting themselves before she's abruptly cut off by the intrusive voice in her head. "Oh you're no fun. How about you take some time to relax and cool off there. I'll contact you again tomorrow because God I'm gonna drink a glass of wine and enjoy a bubble bath for the first time without worrying about my stalker bursting in and demanding a fight." and just like that the voice was gone. Giovanna slowly lowering her fists, the only noise she heard now was the buzzing of cicadas and the soft breeze rolling by. It was cold and the sun had just set, standing in the middle of this field and freezing would get her no closer to home or to Rei, so slowly she begins to walk towards the village nearby.
Head towards the village

Gio's Tale
Keep it Real
Within the Guilty Gear setting, Giovanna is a supernaturally gifted member of the secret service, with a duty to thwart plans that threaten the life and livelihood of the President of the United States. Bullheaded and perhaps outwardly rude, she works in tandem with her spirit wolf Rei. Together the pair focus exclusively on their work, shirking the many pleasures and joys of life in the pursuit of efficiently performing their duties. Their strong will and to enjoy the little things has attracted the unwanted attention of a witch by the name of I-No. The witch has complete control over time itself, and in order to prove a point about the necessity of luxury and pleasure in one's life, as stolen Giovanna away from her job and separated her from Rei. In this alternate time line, Giovanna will have to fight her way back to the reality she's always known, perhaps she'll come to see I-No's point and enjoy life a little along the way.
