Chapter 130 by Calamity_Jim
What's next?
A Cunning Witch
The Mercedes glided through the city streets like a silent predator, effortlessly devouring the road. The cabin was a sanctuary of luxury, insulated from the chaos of the outside world by double-paned soundproof glass, hand-stitched leather, and a sophisticated fragrance of jasmine and spice—a scent that, judging by its deliberate presence, Selena had chosen to impress.
She sat close—too close—her body angled toward you, her long, manicured fingers tracing slow circles against your thigh, an unmistakable invitation. Her dress, an expensive piece designed to reveal just enough to tempt, parted slightly at the slit, exposing smooth, toned skin. Her every movement was practiced, controlled—just enough to be suggestive without overstepping.
“I want to serve you,” she murmured, her voice a mix of worship and ambition, threading her fingers through yours as if it were the most natural thing in the world. “Not just in the ways I know you already enjoy, but in a far greater capacity. Let me handle your wealth, your identity, your entire financial empire.”
You didn’t pull away, but you didn’t indulge her either. Instead, you simply watched her, your expression unreadable.
“You think I’m just going to hand over my money to you?” Your tone was even, measured—but there was a sharp edge of skepticism beneath it.
Selena blinked, then smiled, her eyes flickering with something that might have been amusement. She was bound to you now—by the ritual, by magic itself. She couldn’t lie, couldn’t harm you. But trust? That was earned.
“Not just your money,” she corrected smoothly. “Your legacy. Your power. I can make you untouchable in the human world. I can erase any loose ends you don’t want lingering, make it so that when you decide to be seen, it’s only on your terms.”
You leaned back slightly, regarding her with calculated skepticism. “Funny. The last time I let someone else handle my finances, she bled me dry. And the courts thanked her for it.”
Stephanie.
Your ex-wife had been the one to take charge of the finances during the latter part of your marriage, convincing you it was just easier that way—and in the end, it had cost you. She took everything she could in the divorce. You’d learned the hard way that putting your wealth into someone else’s hands, no matter how much they claimed to love or serve you, was a mistake.
Selena’s expression didn’t falter, though something in her posture shifted—subtly, like a predator adjusting its approach.
“She was human,” she said simply. “Flawed, weak, and playing by the rules of a system designed to punish men like you.” She tilted her head, her fingers tightening ever so slightly on your thigh. “You are beyond human now, and you don’t need the system to win.”
You exhaled slowly, letting her words hang between you. “You can’t lie to me,” you admitted. “But that doesn’t mean you don’t have your own interests in all this.”
Selena’s smile widened. Sharp. Dangerous.
“Of course I do,” she purred. “I want to build an empire with your magic as its foundation. I want to rewrite the balance of power in this world. And I want to stand beside the one being who can make it possible.”
“Stand beside?” you echoed, arching an eyebrow. “That’s ambitious.”
Selena chuckled, her laughter warm, teasing—but never disrespectful.
“I know my place,” she assured you, her free hand moving to smooth the fabric of her dress. “I am not one of your wives. I wouldn’t presume to be. But I am useful. And I intend to make myself indispensable.”
There was no arrogance in her voice—just certainty.
You studied her, weighing her words. The ritual bound her, that much was certain. She couldn’t lie to you, and she couldn’t betray you the way Stephanie had. But trust wasn’t automatic. Not even with magic.
“And what exactly is your plan?” you asked finally.
Selena’s eyes gleamed—like a gambler who had just been dealt a winning hand.
“First, I erase any trace of you that you don’t want found. Paper trails, digital records, tax history, surveillance data—gone. Your past life will only exist where you choose to leave it.”
You gave a slow nod. “And then?”
“Then, I build you a financial empire,” she said smoothly, her voice thick with confidence. “Shell companies, offshore holdings, automated trading algorithms that manipulate market trends. AI-driven investments that front-run every human analyst. With your power, I can nudge probability—not enough to trigger alarms, but just enough to guarantee victory. Stocks will rise or fall in ways that benefit you. Business deals will land in your lap at the perfect moment. The competition will always be one step too slow.”
She shifted slightly, eyes flicking to your lips before returning to your gaze.
“And that’s just the beginning,” she murmured. “Once the foundation is set, we move into real assets. Property, private equity, industries with global influence. Pharmaceuticals. Technology. Defense. Governments will take meetings with us because they’ll have no other choice.”
You watched her carefully, weighing every word, every promise. There was no hesitation in her.
“And magic?” you asked.
Selena exhaled slowly, a wicked smile curving her lips.
“Magic is our ultimate leverage. I can charm clients into offering us deals too good to be true. I can make rivals self-destruct, lead auditors away from anything they shouldn’t see. With your blessing, I can command unwavering loyalty from anyone in our employ. And if anyone dares to threaten what we’ve built?”
She smirked, fingers tracing a slow, deliberate line up your chest.
“They won’t exist long enough to regret it.”
You chuckled, but the skepticism in your gaze didn’t fade entirely. “Convenient.”
Her smile didn’t waver. If anything, she looked thrilled by the challenge.
“I don’t expect blind faith,” she admitted. “Only the chance to prove myself.”
Outside, the city blurred past—a world that had once bound you in chains of mortality and mediocrity. Inside, the air was thick with tension—not just power, but the promise of something greater.
Selena wasn’t your queen. She wasn’t your wife.
But she was a tool, a powerful one, eager to be wielded.
“Please let me serve you, Master.” She purred, the words both reverent and ambitious. “Your wealth, your power, your future—it should all be carefully managed by someone who has your best interests at heart.”
You didn’t move away, but you didn’t lean into her either. Something about this felt too easy.
“And you think that someone is you?” you asked, your tone even, measured.
“I know it’s me,” she said without hesitation. “I can make you untouchable—digitally, financially, politically. All of it.”
You exhaled through your nose, letting her words hang between you for a moment before deciding to cut through the illusion.
“You’re making a lot of promises,” you admitted, your voice calm, controlled. “But there’s just one problem.”
Selena tilted her head slightly, the motion subtle but deliberate—like a cat watching prey just before the pounce.
“And what problem is that, my Lord?”
“The problem,” you continued, “is that I don’t actually have any wealth.”
Her fingers stilled on your thigh. The pause was brief—but it was there.
“I make a modest salary,” you admitted. “No assets. No savings. No hidden offshore accounts.” You gave a dry chuckle, shaking your head slightly. “Hell, if you’re offering to manage my money, you’re about to be really disappointed, because there’s nothing to manage.”
Most people, when confronted with this kind of reality check, would have faltered. They would have hesitated, recalibrated, or tried to hide their reaction.
But not Selena.
She just smiled—slow, knowing, utterly unfazed.
“Oh, I know,” she murmured, leaning in just a little closer. “I already looked into it.”
Your eyes narrowed. “You knew?”
She hummed in response, fingers resuming their slow, calculated circles against your thigh, as if the revelation had changed absolutely nothing.
“I told you that I did my research before the ritual,” she admitted. “I wanted to see what kind of empire I’d be working with. I must say, that divorce was nasty. It’s too bad you didn’t own me back then. I would have enjoyed destroying your ex wife.”
“And when you found out there wasn’t some vast fortune?”
Selena’s smile turned wicked. “It only made me more interested.”
You studied her carefully, waiting for the catch, but she only continued, her voice like silk laced with ambition.
“You don’t need wealth for us to get started,” she explained. “You are the investment. Your magic is worth more than any amount of money. And if the only thing stopping us from building an empire is the starting capital—” she leaned in slightly, voice dropping to a sultry whisper—“then let me take care of that. You bring the magic, and I’ll bring the money.”
You exhaled slowly, searching for the angle. “You’re offering to bankroll everything yourself?”
“I already have.” She reclined slightly, reaching into a small, sleek purse at her side and pulling out her phone. With a flick of her manicured fingers, she turned the screen toward you.
It was a live balance sheet—filled with figures you barely had time to process. Multiple accounts. Holdings. Tens of millions.
Selena smiled, watching your reaction like she already knew what you were thinking.
“This is my personal money,” she said smoothly. “Not my company’s. Not some investor’s. Mine.” She tilted her head slightly. “Would you like to guess how I got it?”
You glanced at the numbers again. This wasn’t just rich. This was generational wealth.
“Magic,” you muttered.
“Magic,” she confirmed, voice brimming with satisfaction. “Not brute ****, not wild gambles. Calculated, subtle, precise.” She set her phone down, her gaze locking onto yours. “And I’m willing to use all of it—for you.”
For you.
Not “with you.” Not “on behalf of us.”
For you.
You exhaled slowly. “And in return?”
Selena grinned like a devil in designer heels.
“You lend me your power,” she said, as if it were the simplest thing in the world. “A little magic here, a little influence there. Nothing too overt—just enough to make sure our ventures always go exactly the way we want them to. There’s only so much I can do with my abilities alone. I want to be the right hand to the being who could rule the world.”
Your eyes searched hers. She wasn’t lying—she couldn’t. The ritual bound her to honesty, to loyalty.
You leaned back slightly, considering. “You’re really that confident in this?”
Selena smirked, leaning in again, fingers grazing the collar of your shirt as she whispered:
“I don’t make bets I don’t intend to win.”
