You hear a crack from behind you. Your new eyes hurt as they sense light for the first time.

Crack!

It spreads from behind your wings. You flex your new wings for the first time pushing back at the shell. You wonder what it would be like for a dragon with no memories of being human. Not knowing the names for things, not knowing what was going on or what came next. It was terrifying enough with this knowledge.

You fell out of the egg sideways onto your new wings, blinking in the light.
