Elia falls asleep in your arms. Though you try to relax and should be tired, you remain wide awake. You can hear everything that you could hear in the night before, but louder and more distinctly, as well as other things. You can hear Elia’s heart beating. You can the flutter of tiny wings as the smallest and quietest of bugs fly around you, around the window, and around the house. Yet that is not what is keeping you awake. You feel like you can’t sleep because you’re not able to anymore. You don’t feel tired or weary, not in the least sleepy. You could get up now and run for hours.
