”Susan, do you not want to give me your ring?”

Hoping his hunch was correct, since otherwise he’d look like a complete weirdo, he asked her, “Susan, do you not want to give me your ring?” The pieces had been falling into place for a while now, and this would either cinch his theory or dash it to pieces.

Frowning, Susan immediately replied, “No, I do actually,” and took the ring off her finger and handed it to him. “Now that I’ve had a chance to look at it more, I feel like you’d be more appreciative of it, Troy.”

Feeling like he was going crazy, Troy slipped the ring he’d had on before off and replaced it with the ring Susan had been wearing. Then, he asked her, “Did you want to head to my place right now, Susan?”

Normally, Troy was pretty sure Susan would have said ‘No.’ After all, they were supposed to be on their way to a study group, and outside of their shared major, they weren’t nearly close enough that she’d consider going over to his dorm room. But instead of being weirded out by the question, Susan smiled at him and said, “Yeah, sounds good to me. See you all later!”

Together with Susan, Troy headed off to the side of campus where he lived. In his head, he was turning over what he’d just confirmed. So, the rings worked with yes or no questions. One made the person say yes, and the other no. And somehow, they not only **** the answers, but made them true as well. The hand they were worn on seemed to matter too, since Susan hadn’t noticed anything going on with the changes, while Troy could see every one of them. That meant, at that moment, he had on a ring that would let him change anyone and everything around him, with Susan’s help. Plus, he’d always found her attractive. So, what was he to do with unlimited power?
