[CommanderxMulti]Boardroom Takeover

Monitors showing the aftermath of conflict between the Allies, the Union, and the Empire line the sleek, high-tech boardroom. Muted news reporters breathlessly report on recent battles or the efforts to recover from them. The long table is spotless, as are the various sharks in suits that sit around it. Each person here is dressed to show power and wealth, as any sign of weakness is ruthlessly exploited. Weakness such as the financial records that you have recently acquired, showing that the CEO Kelly Weaver has been siphoning off funds for her own purposes.

She is highly disciplined, you admit to yourself as you sit back, relaxed and confident. She shows no sign of the stress that she must be under. You took the opportunity to forward her a sample of the evidence along with a few suggestions on how this meeting should progress. As the military expert in FutureTech, its been common to dismiss you as a basic grunt unable to look past your own gun sights.

You're fine with that. Let them continue to underestimate you. They'll never see you coming. Weaver certainly didn't.

"Let's come to order." Kelly announces, the gentle hum of conversation dying down as the board members turn their attention fully to her. She continues smoothly. "I am pleased to announce that FutureTech is fully ready to begin the next phase of our plan. As military action features so prominently in our goals, I felt that it would be best to give our fearless Commander something of a field promotion." She looks to you and gives a nod, as if there were any doubt as to who she would be referring to. "For the foreseeable future, you will be free to pursue whatever targets of opportunity you see fit." The announcement is met with shock, as this was certainly not part of the addenda. Weaver holds up a hand to forestall any protests.

"I'm aware that this is problematic. Rest assured, I intend to remain the CEO and that the Commander will be fully answerable to me. I intend to remain very hands-on in this process. The title will remain largely symbolic, more to cut through red tape than anything else." You give her a calm nod and then the rest of the board a self-depreciating smile. "I look forward to bringing in the technology that will bring FutureTech into power. However, I know my limits and will be relying on each of you to best direct our efforts once that power is achieved. And of course, Ms. Weaver will be instrumental in ensuring that I'm not too disruptive." Polite laughter and something resembling calm descended on the meeting as the suits were reassured that they were still in charge. You'd have to play your cards carefully to avoid upsetting the apple-cart, but you're confident you can make this work.

"Now that the major news is out of the way, let's look at how we intend to implement Stage One." Kelly continued, and people reached for their notes and data pads. You follow along, biding your time and making a deferential suggestion here and there.

"... And that brings us to a good stopping point." Kelly states a couple hours later. "We all know what we need to do, now let's get out there and do it." She dismisses the meeting. "Commander, if you don't mind, I have a couple edits to your outline that I want to go over." Well, that wasn't in her instructions, but it won't hurt to see what she has in mind. "Of course. I'm at your disposal." The lie comes easily since the two people that matter both know otherwise.
