(Chapter IV.II) The Investigation Begins

You now have two tasks on your hand: dealing with the Dark Mercenaries, and finding this mysterious busty lady who is their leader.

Seeing as how you’ve fought many Dark Mercenaries and beaten them already, you decide to do the new thing and try to track down Ms. Big Tits. It’s a decision that’s definitely not at all influenced by the fact that the Dark Mercenaries have been relatively flat-chested, compared to this J-cup beauty that you’re chasing. Nope. Not one bit.

So, you follow the Rad Cliffs as they wind along the coastline, travelling high and low, seeking a hint of a bustier than usual gal. But far as you venture, you only ever seem to come across more Dark Mercenaries. And, though you aren’t as sure about this, the scenery appears to be repeating itself—you swear you’ve seen that boulder before, and that crag, and those wave animations…

“Why are you staring at the water,” a Dark Mercenary says, sliding up to you with her blade drawn.

“I’m not looking to fight,” you say, holding your hands up. “I’m just a Holy Paladin looking to bring justice to this world.”

“Well, you could do that by jumping down into the waves,” the Dark Mercenary says.

“Actually, that would probably kill me,” you say.

“That’s the point,” she mutters, sounding peeved.

“Say, do you happen to know who this is?” you ask, pulling out a picture of her purported busty leader. Maybe this Dark Mercenary has a tip for you.

“That’s the Bandit Viscountess. She pays my wages, of course I know her,” she says.

“You make a wage?” you ask, surprised. “I thought you just looted from caravans along the road and stole money from the tax collectors.”

“I’m a mercenary, of course someone’s paying me to do this,” she says, rolling her eyes. “But you want to know where the Viscountess lives, don’t you?”

“How’d you guess!”

“Sharp intuition,” she laughs darkly. The night clouds draw together in an ominous black pattern. The waves below crash darkly against the black rocks. Oh no, the world is becoming dark again.

“So, where can I find her?” you ask.

“Keep going the way you’ve been going,” she says. “You’ll find her. Eventually.”

“Thanks!” you say.

This is thrilling! You have a new lead! You give her a friendly high-five for her help, but she seems surprised to see an open palm flying for her chest. She is, as a Dark Mercenary, standing on the edge of a cliff, and the light push you give her topples her backwards and over the cliffside.

You watch as her body spatters against the waves and rocks below.
