Chapter 10

What's next?
"Victoria's Secret."
He left Amy in tatters for a few seconds.
Josh heaved, "You got something to tell me?"
"That's what I should be asking you!" Amy whew'd a lock of hair from her brow, turning to study her mall-mate's eyes. "And you're still as straight faced as an arrow! Huh!"
Josh barely avoided crashing into a burly, moustached man playing with a baby girl strapped to to his torso, trying to re-route the conversation. "What was so funny?"
The question was ignored. It wasn't completely rhetorical.
Beckoning him, Amy went on ahead. "Come on. You remember where it is, don't you? Victoria's Secret?" She slipped past a pair of Asian tourists and dipped to the other side of the walkway.
She seems pretty amused. The man tagged along like the bristles on the end of a brush with nowhere else to fall, trying not to let his eyes wander below her cut waistline.
When they arrived, Josh pensively tucked his phone back into his pocket. Despite successfully accessing the application he discovered he had lost his original place.
Maybe there was some kind of search tool.
"Here we are. Victor's Secret." Back in reality, the two of them clacked their feet before a coolly lit, decorated shopping outlet, when Josh stopped, and played that back.
Amy took note of Josh's mildly boggled face as he finally drew his eyes upward and gloriously gazed upon the store logo adorning the space above its entrance.
"Or should I say, 'Victoria'?"
Josh only raised a knuckle to his chin as air clicked out of his chest. "Oh my god."
How could he forget?
Victoria's Secret? In a world where men were the fairer sex and a fraction of the porn consumption base? No, in this disturbing mirror universe, the boys were the ones showing off their underwear for brownie points, not the other way around. Gotdammit.
Amy cleared her throat, Josh noticing her flip a strand of hair over her ear as she quickly moved her eyes to Josh's face. They promptly darted down. Was she okay?
Finally, after what seemed like a minute-long brainfart, "Wanna go inside?" Quickly, she insisted, eyes still averted, "I'm not going without you."
"Why not?" Instead of maintaining eye contact like a normal person Josh was too busy staring at all the glitzed up briefs and... chest pieces? What was that, like a men's bra or something? Did they wear those now? It looked like a very, very short crop-top -- and tight. Far from comfortable. Could that pictured model breathe in that?
"Uh." Amy looked at Josh mildly dumbfounded. "It would be pretty embarrassing if I just waltzed in staring at men's lingerie, you know."
Josh took to thought. That would probably be true in any world, to be fair.
Except for the men's lingerie.
He looked up. "You could just say you're looking to pick up stuff for your boyfriend."
The brunette grabbed his shoulders from behind -- gently. "You want to go or not?" she said teasingly. "Prompto, boyo, or I'll push you."
With a laugh, Josh relented. Amy returned to his side and they proceeded, a little awkwardly, but they proceeded. Nothing a nap wouldn't cure, via conveniently selective amnesia.
When the two of them approached the entrance, they passed by a chattery group of toned pretty boys. Josh snuck a glance mid-sidestep. He could tell they were toned because of how form fitting their clothes were. Automatically, he wondered if that was another side effect of his world-changing stunt, but it was hard to say. He hadn't really been paying attention to other guys up to this point. Now, he was going to be conscious about it all day. Great.
Just before slipping inside, he noted the Victor's Secret shopping bag they each held in their fingers. Must have been a productive visit.
And they weren't exactly... how should he put it -- effeminate. They were going on about some sports game, displayed even lengthed eyelashes, and called each other foo'.
Josh frowned and stepped into the store. In doing so he took the time to soak in his surroundings.
The aesthetic of the brand was a little different; instead of pink and magenta, its primary color scheme was a cool dark and light blue. The fonting was a little more angular and defined. It looked the same, for the most part, just generally refashioned in the spirit of the XY. It was how prominent and populated the storefront was that was most out of place; crisp and cut guys were checking out price tags for flashy, tight garments musky and seductively lit, posted against strikingly colored walls and next to scantily clad posters of profesionally paid fellows staring right at them.
No homo.
Josh shook his head. The amount of guys in here made him sympathize with sardines.
"Excuse me..."
When his ears perked, a voice suddenly emerging from behind him.
Who is it?
