"Fine, but be quick about it!"
"Fine, but be quick about it!" Richard snarls and the five party members, none of them happy, head out into the night.
Near the center of each town is a spawn platform, some cities have more than one, these are where heroes that die in various events in the surrounding vicinity re-appear when they get themselves 'killed', and where they must go to save their game and register certain classes of new acquisitions such as new pets. This was where the five of them, and you and the wolf of course, head, a long languorous and sullen walk.
As you aproach you realize the platfrom is huge, easily 30 feet across and five feet high, seemingly made from a natural hillock which has been built up and adorned with rune carved stones. At it's edges are five plinths each bearing a torch and between them five sets of steps, while the center holds an immense pentagonal obelisk, which glows with a faint blue light. Molly climbs up onto the platform and goes around it's parepeted edge to a large bench or low table made of a single slab of rock where she takes a crystal out of her pack and touches it to the stone which glows with an arcane rune and places you gently atop it.
Seconds later you feel a peculiar sensation...
What is the sensation and what happens next?
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
