"...go. I could use some down time by myself."
Are you sure?" you and your mom asked in near unison.
Randall gave a wry smile. "Yes, I am. Thanks Mrs. C...I mean, Jennifer. And you too Tim. You're both great. But I should probably take some time to get used to all this. Look through all my things and stuff. I've only got next week before school starts back. If I'm really going to take over this life - become Laura Card - then I've got alot to figure out."
Your mom gave her a very sympathetic look. "Dear, it's easy for us to forget how difficult all this must be. Please, let us help you. I can come back over tomorrow if you want..." she offered, putting her hand on Randall's.
She shook her head. "No thank you, Jennifer. That's not necessary. As hard as it is to believe, I think I've got all of that down pat already. It's more a matter of getting used to my new life in general."
"Whatever you say, Laura. Just know that we're all here if and when you need us," you mom added resignedly. "Despite my complaint earlier, Tim can come back tonight if you feel you need him.
Randall chuckled. "I know... I know. You guys ARE my family. I won't forget that. But you were right about Tim and me. We'll have to be careful. And I need to figure out who I am right now. If I have my best bud with me, I'll just keep being 'Randall'. So let's take a break for a few days."
She stood to leave. "Don't worry - I'll call you guys if I need anything. And I'll definitely want to see Tim and the rest of you. Like I said, you're all the family I've got now."
You all told her goodbye and reassured her that you were only a phone call away. You and Allison stepped aside for a quick but intimate goodbye as well, taking a few minutes to kiss and hug. Then she and Randall left for the night.
You spent the next day with Allison but you couldn't keep your mind from drifting back to Randall. Mostly you were concerned about how she was doing - but a part of you wondered when you would get to see and touch her incredible body again.
Unfortunately you didn't hear from Randall for awhile.

The Ultimate Transplant
Someone you know is given a new body & life
PLEASE ADD CHAPTERS! A close friend or family member is horribly injured in an accident. As they lay dying in the emergency room, another patient dies of a brain aneurysm. Both of them are organ donors, so a surgeon decides it's the perfect opportunity for him to try an experimental surgery. He transplants the victim's higher brain (the cerebellum) to the donor's body in an attempt to 'save' a life. Amazingly it works. But the surgery was not approved so the hospital convinces the families to keep quiet, arguing that revealing this operation to the public would bring never-ending media attention to all involved. That means that the patient will have to publicly assume the identity of the donor. What will this mean to your friends and family? Who else will you tell? Although you will spend a lot of time and effort giving support, how will all this alter your relationship to the patient? And how will he or she adapt to a complete change of body and identity? Many transformation stories focus on the change or victim, so I thought it would be interesting to instead have the POV be someone who sees the change from the outside. Writers feel free to explore a change in age, gender, class or ethnicity - and the repercussions that change would have on the main character (and others).
