Chapter 10 by reaper13 reaper13

Where do you start your search for the exit?

Head for the baths

The baths are an integral part of life in the abbey. Per the scriptures, every sister of the Burning Rose needs to clean herself daily. If the body is dirty, then the soul is dirty. Since the baths have such a high usage of water, it needs a system of pipes to drain away the used water. If you could manage to get into the pipes, you could crawl your way out of this abbey.

You duck through the hallway to the lower level and arrive at the baths, with its tiled walls and its central mosaic of the fire-wreathed rose that is the symbol of your order. To your surprise, you notice two women are in the process of bathing. You find it odd that someone would be bathing now of all times.

One of two woman is an elf named Glenda. She saw the light of the goddess before you joined the order and left her clan to become a sister. It is easy to recognize her, since she is the only person in the entire abbey who has long pointy ears and lustrous green hair. Her face is almost achingly pretty and has dark, almond-shaped eyes.

The other woman is someone you have never seen before. Her delicate beauty exceeds even Gelnda's and she has short brown hair and large perky breasts. Her bust is especially full when compared to Glenda’s tiny mounds. Perhaps she is a guest who stayed over at exactly the worst time.

You step out from your hiding spot and address the women.

“Sister Glenda, lady. Are you two alright?” You ask.

The two of them look at you and smile.

“Sister,” the unknown woman greets you. “Welcome. Please, join us. The water is very relaxing.”

You shake your head, trying to keep the scorn from your voice.

“I am very sorry, miss. But we have to leave this place as quick as we can.”

You explain the two of them how daemons have overrun the abbey and are hunting every woman they can find.

"How could you not hear them?" you wonder. Then again, you did not hear them either. You were too busy curled up beside Ivona.

“This is odd,” The strange woman replies. “I have not seen any daemons here. Maybe there is something that keeps them from entering here?”

Would it be possible? Could the baths be protected by something? Is it possible to be safe by staying here?

“Oh dear, and you are covered in blood.” The woman says as she points to the dried blood splatters on your chest. “Come, you should clean that off. Lay your sword down and join us. We will help you clean up.”

"Yes, please, bathe with us," urges Glenda.

The idea of a bath with the two women strikes you as impossibly wonderful after the horrors you have endured. To feel the warm water and soap on your blood-stained skin. To purify the flesh that has been so nearly lost. You take a step closer and hesitate again. There is something weird about this situation and that small voice of worry in your mind will not be quiet.

Should you really take a bath here and now?
