Legacy House

Chapter 1 by cutie569 cutie569

It was a very sad day when you heard the news. You're favorite relatives, eccentric Uncle Benny and his sister, your Aunt June, had passed on. Most of the family mumbled their good riddance's under their breath, even speculating that Benny & June were incestuous lovers. You didn't care though. Uncle Benny was a scientist and always around to help you with school and while Aunt June wasn't around as much, she always made time to sit and talk when she wasn't on one of her archaeological adventures. They were more family to you than the gold digging bitch who worked your father into the ground, and the stepdaughters she brought with her.

After the funeral, you are summoned for the reading of the joint will. Listening to the droning lawyer dole out various amounts of cash to falsely grieving family has you grinding your teeth in anger, but the lawyers announcement to you makes it all worth while. "To our beloved nephew, we leave our home and all its contents. May you find it to be the place of solace and sanctuary it always was."

You're grinning ear to ear, your spite over your relatives forgotten. You know you came out on top and from the glares in the room everyone else does too.

People are already moving to contest the validity of the will, but you know nothing will come of it. Uncle Benny and Aunt June were way too careful to let anything happen to the house by chance. Still smiling, you push away from the table and walk away, the sounds of the arguments fading away to silence.

You quickly set out for your new home, a quiet two story home out in the suburbs, easily beating out your arguing family and conniving step-family. Walking up to the main door, you marvel at the absence of locks and doorknobs as you press your hand to an inset metal plate on the door. A moment later the door opens with a near silent click of disengaging locks and the quiet chirp of a deactivating alarm system.

"Home sweet home." You say quietly.

"And welcome home, young master." A familiar voice says.

"Uncle Benny?" You say in surprise.

"In the... pixels, as the case may be." A nearby camera projected a beam of light into the area near you that resolved into the familiar figure of your recently deceased Uncle. "Make your way to my old office and we'll explain everything."

You hastily make your way upstairs puzzling over this new mysterious development. You know your aunt and uncle are dead, so just what have they left behind?

"Ah good, you're here!" The image of your dead uncle reappeared, flanked this time by your aunt June. "Now first and foremost is this is the most secure room in the house, completely impenetrable to outside surveillance once security mode is activated like so." Benny paused dramatically as the windows tinted, the only door into the room locked, a wall of family portraits blinked away to reveal a bank of monitors, and the desk lamp lit up casting a green glow throughout the room.

"Can I have that activate whenever I enter this room?" You ask.

"Default parameters changed. Security mode now activates when you close the main doors." Uncle Ben said. "Now first, I should tell you, the family rumors about your aunt and I being lovers were all true, but really with an ass like this wouldn't you hit it?" Ben patted June's ass in a manner you were very familiar with from the time you spent here. "Now as you know... we're dead, but we always knew that you would be the one."

"The one?" You ask quizzically.

"Yes," June replied. "We always knew that we wanted you to have the house... and what's in it.We also didn't want you to be alone, so we copied our neural engrams onto the central mainframe so we live on in these virtual forms"

"As you know, I'm an inventor by nature and I have several patents. Those, by the way, are yours now. But what's even more important are the things that I didn't patent, kept in the hidden lab under the house."

"I was an archaeologist, exploring ruins both terrestrial and alien. Like Lara Croft, only hotter." June chuckled. "And like your uncle, all of my best discoveries are kept in the vault under the house."

"So what kind of things are under the house." You ask curiously.

"Mind control." June said.

"Time stop." Benny added.

"Body modification."

"Subliminal projector."

"Libido enhancement!" They say in unison before breaking down laughing and you raise a hand to stop them.

"So... what do you expect me to do now?"

"Whatever you want. We will be here to guide you in any way we can, but we just want you to be happy."

"So where is this vault?"

"Right this way." June gestured towards the bookcase which opened to reveal a hidden elevator.

"Classic." You say approvingly as the three of you enter, and a pleasant voice asked your destination. "Vault please"

"You know, after I put it in, I thought it was too much." Benny said. "but June loved it, so I never got rid of it."

"Well it always made me feel a bit like a Bond girl." June replied as the lift descended. "Secret elevator to an underground headquarters. Very hush hush secret agents. And I had my own mad gadgeteer on call." She leaned over and gave Benny a hug. "Of course there are other stops on the way down, garage, armory, workshop, and a few others we'll let you discover on your own."

"So most of the house is underground? How did you do all this?"

"Well, when we redid the kitchen and patio five years ago, I did the bulk of the work. And we're just far enough out that neighbors don't come calling often.

Ah here we are." Benny said as the doors slid open. Before you are three simple doors, one of steel on the right and one that seems to be wooden on the left.

"We had a standing agreement in life and still in , I stick to my tech, and she sticks to her relics."

"What about that door?" You say pointing to the door just ahead of you.

"Alien stuff." They say in unison.

So, where do you go from here? Through a door? Explore the house? Or start moving in?
