The Successor

The Only Thing That Matter's Is Family, It's All That Lives On

Chapter 1

The world of Ethosis has entered a very sorry state, the five noble houses that controlled the continent have fallen on severely hard times, namely because the rulers of each have died and now their heirs are all that remain. These successors were not ready to fill the shoes of their late father's, most just barely of age. Worse yet, they also inherited all of the complications and delicate situations that their lord fathers were handling. Not to mention, they now need an heir of their own less anything happens to them, and the family name be lost as their realm is passed to another noble line.

War is how their Kingdom was forged, and it's how it handles nearly all problems with the neighboring kingdoms. Ironically, their fight with Reness took the life of King Gregor on the battlefield, causing an abrupt end to the war and his firstborn to take over.

House Dusmith, Sigil; A Blue Quill, House Words; Pride Is Not Duty, Rulers Of The Kingdom Of Reness; House Dusmith has always been a house of diplomacy, they understand that the real wars are fought and even prevented through alliances. While this gained them friends and respect from kingdoms such as Falcone, it revealed their weakness in actual combat to Alto. When King Henry was invited to Alto under the guise of brokering an alliance, he quickly found out it was instead a declaration of war. Executed, King Henry's realm passed to his heir, who was tossed into a war which luckily ended nearly as quickly as it began.

House Ravenbeard, Sigil; A Golden Raven, House Words; Wisdom In Gold, Rulers Of The Kingdom Of Falcone; House Ravenbeard is by far the richest of the five noble families of Ethosis. Having initially built their kingdom with the gold and gems earned from mines; since depleted, House Ravenbeard invested into cities, funding everything from an expansive trading harbor to seedy brothels at every corner. King Tarim life was cut short from disease; most assume something he caught from the many whores he brought into his chambers throughout his rather short life. Despite all the woman in his life, Tarim only had one true heir to take over...or, so it's believed.

House Lockend, Sigil; A Blood Dripping Dagger, House Words; No Honor In , Rulers Of The Kingdom Of Wemid; House Lockend rose to power only half a century ago, once a loyal vassal to the previous rulers, House Dyecolt, Lockend used intrigue and private deals to gain the support of the lesser houses to overthrow them. Since then, Lockend rules their kingdom quite privately, trusting no one, not even family. Knowing the power of ambition, Lockend has often been known to silence any families that brought an issue to them. King Aern paranoia led to a mostly lonely life, only producing a single heir before dying alone in his bed, some believe by poison making the new heir's chances of survival thrown into question.

House Moonwell, Sigil; A Cresent Moon With A Rising Sun Behind, House Words; From The Beginning To The End, Rulers Of The Kingdom Of Criston; House Moonwell is the oldest house in the continent of Ethosis, said to be one of the original founders when man first settled. House Moonwell is supported by its people who trust the royal family and fully support the thought of their divine blood, leading to the support of close-kin marriage to keep it pure. This led to the kingdom rarely reaching out to the other's, instead choosing to keep its borders closed and it's eyes off the rest of the world. With the passing of King Kent, due to old age, his heir must now stabilize the realm and see if they can continue to survive solely on their own.

Which family will you follow as they attempt to survive and thrive during this chaotic time?
