to free his wife, Zeus sought the assistance of the gods in the freeing his Queen and offered his most beautiful daughter, Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and lust in marriage to the god who could bring Hephaistos to Olympos. Aphrodite agreed to the arrangement in the belief that her secret lover, Ares, god of war would prevail.

Ares stormed the forge of Hephaistos, bearing arms, but was driven back by the Divine Smith with showers of flaming metal. In the end, even the god of war was no match for the machinery crafted by Hephaistos. But soon, Dionysos, the Olympian god of wine and depravity, next approached the Hephaistos and lay forward a suggestion that the lonely cripple could not refuse.

By releasing his mother himself, he might claim Aphrodite himself. Hephaistos was pleased with the plan and ascended to Heaven with Dionysos, releasing his mother. However, in the end, it is told that the Godness of Love was wedded reluctantly to the God of Smithering, dour and humorless as he was, resulting in many unfaithfulnesses of Aphrodite in the future. Fearful of the might of Area, Hephaistos could only swallow his pride and remain blind to this humiliation.

So far, this story was known by mortals, as written in their forgotten and dismissed myths. But in the holy scrolls on Themyscira, home of the Amazons, the story of Hephaistos and Aphrodite continues, leading to one of the darkest secrets that the female warriors have sworn to protect from the men's world ...
