Nano-Invasion

Chapter 1 the Calm before the Storm:

(Good Morning Miami! This is Daniele Waters at Florida News Source it is March 23, 2102, and today’s top story is Nano-robots or micro-machines, for years Science Fiction Writers have explored the idea behind these little machines in our bodies repair of damaged cells, healing the body of life-threatening injuries, and removing unwanted cancers in the body as well as many other ailments but it seems the day has come for science fiction to become science fact yesterday the Genesis Nanotech Industries owner Richard Dawkes and his team of Scientists stationed in Miami Florida, have created the world’s first nanobot capable of doing surgery in the body.)

(The Experiment Codenamed Unbroken has healed 29-year-old Martha Willows from Kentucky who was suffering from breast cancer the nanobots were able to target the cancer cells in her body and devour them, not only that but with them, in her bloodstream, they will monitor for any signs of cancer cells and eliminate them and by these next year this nanobot will be used in the Florida Medical the newest and technological hospital in the world. But with the recent controversies surrounding Genesis Nanotech Industries and it’s owners for years, before the name change it was known as Dawkes Industries a military contractor known for making drones and many other surveillance devices many which were used by various dictators to illegally spy on their citizens, some of the scientific community are worried that with some modifications the micromachines can not only be used for spying but for controlling the people without their knowing…)

Richard Dawkes turned off the TV he was rather annoyed the rumors were hurting his business and reputation he sighed placing the remote down he looked at the shack of sheets on his desk, testing on the Mark 12 Indoctrination and Mind Controlling Machines has been going smoothly at the “Nano farm” the codename for Lab 09 in Miami. But they need to remain vigilant ever since last month they managed to catch two spies lurking around trying to steal the nanobots blueprints but once the indoctrination drones get to work on their minds they will soon reveal who they are working for but for now, that event must remain under the table for now…

Nano Farm 09 is a grey inconspicuous building located in Miami Florida with no signs or billboards to identify it the people living and working in the area pay it not attention as they go about their lives not knowing the purpose fo the building, but to those working in the Farm they know they are working in one the world’s most advanced labs entering his office Assistant Director Albert T Finn age 56 from Detroit he has been working for the company for 16 years now a hard worker and good friend of Richard, he has been employed to make sure his small staff of scientists does their job.

Sitting down he opened his computer and began reading the notes Dr. Semyon Roma have emailed of him so far they were using some progress on the indoctrination drones but they had hit a problem with the AI prone to bugs that interrupted its systems it had slowed down the project immensely, he feared this was due to sabotage from a spy from a rival company or country. But they had found no evidence to the contrary he rubbed his eyes he continued to read the emails from Dr. Semyon Roma until he heard a knock at his door, he called the person into his office looking up from the computer he saw Computer Engineer Darma Nanna he smiled as he entered.

“Hello boss I have bad news the glitches in the Indoctrination machine have gotten worse whatever is causing the glitch is causing the machines to reproduce nonstop, no matter how hard we try to fix the AI it seems to be fighting us for a better term we never experienced something like before we might need outside help for this Boss,” he said she was clearly nervous.

“Damn it Darma, you know full well why we can’t we already had to spies infiltrate the building! the world thinks we’re making micromachines to heal people well they’re half right, and to make it worse word leaks out what we’re really doing here it will completely destroy our reputation! Listen Darma I know you guys are working very hard on this and I commend you all for your work, but if you can’t fix this AI we’re going to have to scrap it and start from scratch we can’t afford more delays, so what is the current status of the AI?” He asked he looked at the folder he was holding.

“Well uhm right now it’s currently in stasis the AI is inactive we’re trying to work the problem but we’re not sure if we can, it seems we have hit a roadblock, sir, I know the risks but we have to get outside help on this none of us to have the expertise to resolve this issue.” He said his eyes not leaving the paper the room is quiet for a few seconds as he thought things over.

“Alright keep it like that for now until you have isolated the problem and fixed it until then I want you to report t me with any new findings you have? Do you understand? And no this is my final answer on this subject if we can’t fix the problem by the end of the month the AI needs to be scrapped.” He asked Darma nodded and he was soon dismissed he left the room shutting the door behind him. Walking down the hall Darma reached the lab the other scientists looked at him as he nodded his head, they all release a collective sigh.

“He just won’t listen to reason he's too paranoid with what happened last month I don’t know how to convince him to allow outside help he mentioned if we don’t fix it in a month it is to be scrapped, I’m sorry guys I failed you...” He said the others tried to cheer him up Engineer Zinoviy Motya snorted at the thought 1 month pfft if they couldn’t fix it in a year what’s one more month going to do?

“Darma it’s ok we get it you tried your best no one is blaming you for not getting him to agree, well what do we do now? Said Dr. Bridget Morrison the others looked around not saying anything.

“Welp, standing around gawking at each other is doing nothing and it isn’t going to fix the problem so I suggest we do a full system diagnostic now while it’s in stasis mode maybe we can find something we missed earlier, come on guys I know this glitch has been kicking our ass all year but I can feel it I know we can crack the code…” He said Dr. Samuel Covington ever the optimist he tries to rally the Scientists with his speech and it worked somewhat but with the constant failures and the pressure of getting the AI to work has lowered morale drastically. But slowly they being to go back to their computers Dr. Samuel Covington sighed as he looked at Dr. Elena Green, the two of them have been good friends since college he smiled as she placed a hand on his shoulder.

“You did a good speech for the troops Samuel I know you're trying to cheer us up but damn it this I'm not sure if it’s even a glitch anymore it feels the AI is fighting against us, I don’t know Samuel I just got a bad feeling about this ever since Jacob and Samantha were outed as spies I just feel so paranoid these days you know?” she looked in his hazel eyes his smile had disappeared.

“To be honest Elena but I don’t know it just seems a bit of a stretch the AI fighting us it implies it’s got sentient and I don’t think it has yet, it’s smart AI but I don’t think it has reached full sentience yet...” But a part of him believed it has gotten to that point yet for the last year it has been acting weird as if it was listing to them and adapting to our attempts to fix it, nah he shook the thought out of his head he was getting as paranoid as the rest of them he looked back at her and sighed leading the two into the Machine Factory.
