Keeper of the House

Dr. Dina Corman, age 38, pulled up to the security gate at her hillside gated community and was greeted by the familiar face of Lendon, the long-time security guard of Trom Hills Estates. As he approached her car, he let Dina know that the woman who Dina was to interview was in fact waiting inside the Guard building. Dina tucked her dark auburn hair behind her ears, green eyes hidden behind dark rose sunglasses.

Dina had been looking for a housekeeper (with some intelligence) for months and found that Phoenix was slim pickings until this woman called and answered her ad in the Sunday Tromferd Times News. The woman's voice was soothing and oddly enough to Dina, sensual and restrained.

As Dina drove around the side to pick the woman up, she found her hands sweating. She was told by the woman that she was a black lady; something that Dina never even considered because the woman's voice didn't sound anything at all like the black patients who came into the emergency ward down in mid-city Tromferd.

As the silver Jaguar pulled along side the building, out stepped a large brown-skinned black woman. An unobservant person would see a very plain heavy woman with big shoulders and hands. However, Dina saw more than that.

She was wearing a very fine, purple gauze, floor-length summer dress which seem to almost pulse in the slight breeze. When Dina stopped the car, she took off her sunglasses to find very warm, intense brown eyes smiling into her own green ones.

Dina took in all at once the power of the woman before her, the quiet but purposeful dignity she held herself in and startling enough, an unusual sensuality. Dina suddenly felt as though her life had taken a quantum leap into the arms of this strange woman and took a deep breath before she spoke, as she was almost trembling in an excitement she hadn't felt since her honeymoon.
