Dragon Age: The Chevalier Prodigy

(Council of Heralds Room, Val Royeaux, Two Years Ago)

As Jean-Marc Watched his Father beam with pride as he read the Scroll that thw Council of Heralds had produced to them, he knew at once his Life would Change Dramatically, for good or ill. That was when his Father passed him the Scroll, and it read:

This Document is To Ratify that The Durotellian Family is now raised to Nobility, they presently Hold the Rank of Baron, and they are granted Holdings in the Exalted Plains. This Document is also present to state that the Application of one Jean-Marc Durotellian is now approved to enter the Academie de Chevaliers.

The rest was just Ceremonial Stuff, but the Thought of Becoming a Chevalier, meant more than just A Rise in Prestige and Social Status. It meant an Opportunity to gain Connections and Contacts. The Exalted Plains was a Great Source of Wealth and Trade, and many other Lesser Houses had Holdings there. But They had been there for Generations, the Durotellian's were Young Upstarts recently raised to Nobility, and their neighbours would try to screw them over.

Even though they were Originally Merchants, the Durotellian's were Modest in Wealth. The Dales may be A Great Source of income, but most, if not all of the Merchants who would come through would already be Connected to the Neighbouring Families. What they Needed was a Wealthy Ally and a Influential Patron. Orlaisen's Loved many things, but Antivan's were Exotic and Considerably Wealthy, something that would Gain Prestige.

Jean-Marc was a lot Smarter Than his Father when it came to Politics and the like. So he would begin looking into potential Marriage Alliance's with a Respectable Antivan Family. But the Patron would come later........
