Antiques

A trip to the store unlike any other

Chapter 1 by Grimm05 Grimm05

There is a store in the older side of town that has withstood the test of time and continue to remain open for decades despite the rarity of customers that step through their doors. Yet despite all attempts by other businesses, the city, and even the mob the store continues to open every morning at 7 AM and close at 6 PM without fail.

A fact many would consider curious as by all accounts those who enter through the simple blue colored door will find themselves greeted by antiques that were of some value but not worth the price needed to keep the lights on and the doors open. Yet every month the store pays its bills, keeps up to code, and even remains untouched by vandals despite attempts to shut the store down countless of times before. So the fact that even now the store remains open is quite curious to those who hear the story and a source of many urban legends.

Which is further enhanced by the owner of the blue colored store itself as many locals swear that the proprietor of the store was the very same man that first opened the store decades ago. Yet no one ever proved it and those who tried tend to be humiliated in some way or another though never anything harmful of course. Though this fact alone made the store an unpopular shop by many citizens which is what brought you to the store shortly after opening.

The simple blue store was a good place to find peace and quiet and a break from reality. So you came inside with the excuse of finding a gift or two for yourself or for others.

It didn’t matter about the stories in your opinion as like many of the current generation you believed it to be nothing more than just that, a story. One that was clearly just for publicity as you became one of the many who entered the shop through the simple blue door and found yourself greeted by the sound of bell to signal your entrance into the shop.

Closing the door behind you the bell rang once more, signaling all within of your presence as you were amazed by the fact that the store was bigger on the inside. Yet not large enough to give the antiques adequate space of course as you began to step forward and examine the store for anything interesting.

It did not take long of course for the owner of the shop to make his way toward you as you were one of the few customers within the store. The man

Yet you could honestly not describe him as by all accounts the man looked plain with no distinguishable features save for the green suit he chose to wear.

His skin was a pale white tone with gray hair that reached down to his shoulders and a green hat to top it all off. The appearance reminding you of the Mad Hatter no less as he smiled at your appearance within his store and began to speak in a rather playful, albeit fake, British accent.

“Welcome new customer to my humble abode. May I ask what you seek here today?”

You paused for a moment, your mind simply processing what was happening before your brain managed to reboot and answer “Just browsing.”

With the smile still on his face he responded playfully “Well you best choose well. Many of my items are special. Some give the owner good fortune. Others will send you on an adventure while others will spell doom to the owner. May fortune smile upon you.”

Naturally you found his words unnerving as he stepped away from view, leaving you to study the antiques and wondered what he meant by special.

Now the only question is who are you and what item will you choose? Something more familiar such as clothing? An antique such as an old typewriter or notebook? Perhaps something shiny such as a golden watch? Or even something large such as a Grandfather Clock or a vase?

There are so many stories to tell, so many people to follow, and so many nasty stories to read. So go ahead and click, read, write, and review.

Who will we follow?
