You lie in bed. You've been lying there in the still, silent darkness for two hours, unable to sleep. Something inside you is just itching to get out and it's keeping you wide awake.
It's been a rough few weeks. You've been so busy at work you've barely had a moment to yourself to be alone with your thoughts. The stress has been weighing on you heavily as you drag yourself out of bed every day and work yourself stiff. You've barely had time to sit down and relax, let alone find a woman. Is that what this is? Stress combined with lust? Whatever it is you need to do something about it.
How about a walk? That seems like it'd do the trick. You can unwind a bit and maybe relax enough to sleep. Your home is in a more suburban area of the city, so it's pretty quiet at night with the odd passerby here and there. There are some small lakes and forested areas close by that would be perfect for going to clear your head.
You toss the bed sheets to the side and swing out of bed, then walk over and press the light switch. It's a cool night, so you throw on some jeans, a t-shirt, and a light jacket. You also grab a neck gaiter. It can be pulled up as a half mask if you get cold or run into trouble and need to conceal your identity.
Before leaving, you holster your trusty .38 Special revolver and put it in your waistband. You live in a pretty safe part of town, but you never know what can happen. You got a concealed pistol license years ago because you felt it was better to be safe than sorry.
You close and lock your door, turn around, and step off the porch and onto the sidewalk. There's not a soul in sight, and the street lights and spaced few and few between. There's enough of them to keep most of the street and sidewalks lit, but not much else.
Which way do you want to go? To your left are some lakes about a mile down, as well as the town. To your right is more homes and some wooded areas, along with a small park.
