A Note From The (Real) Editor:

Right, so the idea behind this story is not that it's held together by a recurring character or any particular location, but that all of the stories that make up the different parts of it are of the same types that would appear in old pulp magazines.

That means stuff like Tarzan, John Carter of Mars, Buck Rogers, Secret Agent X and The Shadow, but movies like Raiders of the Ark and The Maltese Falcon can also serve as inspiration for new stories. There's no reason why there can't be supernatural elements in the stories, and science is generally something to be played fast and loose with, including the use of mad and discredited scientific notions such as luminiferous aether, Martian canals, the Hollow Earth hypothesis and so on, though things like phrenology and silly notions about distinct racial attributes are to be avoided.

Writers are of course free to contribute their own stories or to add to already existing ones, just so long as you adhere to the guidelines.
