Alien Legacy

Centuries ago our world was visited by an advanced race of aliens, explores on a cosmic journey of discovery. These strange visitors found earth and its primitive inhabitants fascinating so much so that they spent many years living amongst us, studying us,helping us, guiding our development. If you are wondering why your history books never mentioned the time Copernicus got the idea for a heliocentric model of the universe from an alien slug creature it's probably because these particular alien slug creatures had an amazing gift. They could conceal themselves inside the bodies of other lifeforms merging with their host's nervous system effectively possessing any person or animal they choose. Using this perfect system of disguise they stayed for many years until eventually the time came for them to move on. They left behind an amazing legacy, an out pouring of great art and scientific advancement that we now call the renaissance.

And that’s where the story would end, nothing more than an implausible conspiracy theory except they left one other thing behind. While they lived on Earth some of them took to opportunity to enjoy the sexual nature of their borrowed bodies and inevitably some of them had human children. When they left they couldn't take these children with them but instead they gave them a parting gift. Through an incredible feat of genetic engineering each child was granted the ability to shift into their ancestor's alien form and gain the same incredible powers of possession.
