A New Life across the pond
My own personal fictional diary
Chapter 1 by kathleengiblin
I was running late. Though thats like saying 'every day starts with a sunrise'...it always happens.
I'd managed to gather all my clothes into a couple of suitcases, and one big black bin bag, and take them to my brothers. Then it was back to the university library with a stack of ten books. And a ÂŖ20 late fine.
I was fine then, plenty of time nothing to worry about, I could get the bus and be over at Jo's in ten minutes.
I walked from the library through the university atrium and out about to turn toward the bus station when as i was walking down the stairs from the opposite direction i heard my name shouted twice.
"Kat, Kat!"
I turned toward the voice seeing across the road on the other side Simon waving at me, I saw him smiled and waved back and without thinking turned walking across the road toward him.
"So, you're off then" Simon said as I walked up.
Nodding "Yep, just returned my books and paid my fine" I say laughing a little.
"Cool, cool. Got time for one last drink in the Union?" Simon asked, "I was just going over there, supposed to meet Tim and John there after there classes.
I looked past him at the Union, scene of many a long night on cheap beer, then down at my watch it seems like I had time for at least one drink, but I had told Jo I would be over soon.
"I....er...was supposed to be going to Jo's in a bit" I said looking back at the bus station, "but well, not for another half hour or so..."
Do I go and have a drink with him, or say goodbye and go catch my bus?
