The Kurushimi Curse by Yabusa
The three biggest companies in the world don't often seem related in any way, except in that they often are thought to be helmed by some of the richest, most successful people on the planet. The world has been shaped and reshaped by these industry giants time and again, particularly with innovative technologies, medicines, and sponsoring new business ventures for those who would try to make the world into something far more incredible than even our wildest dreams might imagine. However, it all came with a terrible price. The founding members of these companies, in 1924, unleashed a curse that would propagate through their lineage. It seemed like such a small sacrifice, for one person of the three families each generation to suffer while the other two families prosper at a staggering rate. But each family has received a taste of the terrible price the curse exacts upon them, and each family dreads reliving the cycle again. Worse, it would seem that after one hundred years, a prophecy of the Kurushimi Curse may indicate the worst is yet to come... Reiko Hasegawa, granddaughter of Hideki Hasegawa, is expected to eventually carry a child for the family, in order to not allow the curse to worsen. She is determined to use her company's resources in any way possible to understand and dispel the curse. She used a backdoor in her popular Ascend AR headsets to access the memories of the majority of the population in the world, including the elderly for which the technology is particularly popular. She hires you to do a few specific things: build a history of the curse from 1924 on, using memories of secondhand accounts as none of the families lived long enough for firsthand details; and uncover details about each of the companies that seems to be associated with the curse and whatever event is slated to occur in 2024.
