The world has gotten a lot more… magical in the past few decades following 2012 the “end of the world” as some people told the old Mayan and Aztec myths to be. Fortunately, it wasn't the end of the whole world, as people thought, but it was the end of the mundane world as man knew it. Older bloodlines had been waking up with the restoration of magic to the world, making the 6th magical age in recorded history. Well, recorded mystical history. Needless to say, mortal history was thrown into tumult by the entities who emerged that actually lived through those centuries.

And as the world continued to change, the effects of magic became more pronounced with the coming generation. Newborns grew larger teeth and green shards of skin or gained pointed ears and taller frames. While the latter weren’t exactly uncommon before, the effects became far more pronounced with magic’s return. The Mediterranean islands experienced an awakening to their ancient roots, transforming into something akin to the epochs and tragedies of old with sorcery, enchantment, Satyrs, Dryads, and other magical creatures manifesting or awakening. Eastern demons exploded, or rather combusted, across mainland and islands of Asia as familiar mystic shapeshifters. The British Isles have become partially reclaimed by the newly born elves and the returned Fae. And creatures from American myths and folklore ranging from the peaceful bigfoot to the monstrous wendigo popped up seemingly out of nowhere as medicine men discovered that the old war dances can bring about harsh storms and earthquakes, the power of the wind and the sky and the earth and its many spirits calling out to sing and dance and hunt and rage and bless and curse after so many years of silence.

There were some challenging changes to come. Some pleasant, and others less so. Races that had once been powerless suddenly gained immense strength. And some of them had grudges to settle with the respective power players of the old world. For example, the Native American tribes who had been **** from their lands during colonization. With these newly regained powers. the old ways provided a path to balancing nature or to vengeance, depending on who wielded the power. Governments fell and rose and fell again in the turmoil that followed while the world tried to understand and quantify this unusual phenomenon.

However, as it is with all things, the dust inevitably settles, and a new normal arises. It's been nearly two decades since this resurgence. And with the coming generation, the demographics have shifted significantly enough to make magic and its many old rules commonplace once again. And while some old tricks and powers remained the same, there were at least certain concessions made to give the modern non-magical generation a chance. The magical nature of posterity ensured certain protections. And for those who continued to breed a non-magical bloodline, laws against the old ways of using Changelings to kidnap children or adults were put in **** under the strictest of bindings. Those who broke such edicts or broke the law in other ways would face the severe consequences.

And of course, with the integration of magic came the necessity of incorporating magical history and theory as well for those who could use magic. Whole new fields of science were unlocked as cryptozoology became a properly recognized field of study in biology, while various magical reagents and compounds became the basis for new developments in medicine and pharmacology. Life would never be the same, but for many, in time, it would become livable again. And to that end, classes designed to help bridge the gap between the magical and the non came to be in every stage of development from preschool through college and beyond.
