  1. The Princess’ Protector by Merthyr

Meet the protagonists of our story, Sir Arnvald Lynnrey, Royal Protector to the Princess and the greatest swordsman in the Realm, and Princess Irulan Ajoun, the heir to Kaylarth and the only child of the King and Queen. Sir Arnvald, the second son of the noble House of Lynnrey, is one of the greatest swordsmen who ever lived, despite his young age. He is masterfully skilled with a lance as well as swords, though he is more comfortable armoured with his greatsword in his gauntleted hands. He wields the legendary blade known as Bloodscar. The weapon is unlike any other, steel of an unimaginable quality, enamelled crimson. It takes two hands to wield, though many lesser men cannot use the blade to its full capabilities. Arnvald is no lesser man, however, standing at 6 feet 11 inches tall, with broad shoulders and a muscular body. He is most commonly seen wearing full plate armour, with Bloodscar in his hands or strapped to his back. His hair is jet black, and his brown eyes are so dark they might as well be black. He is ruggedly handsome, but he possesses a long scar from the corner of his left eye to part way down his cheek. He is a man of few words, preferring to speak with his blade or stand guard. Princess Irulan is extremely beautiful, and is often the subject of many marriage proposals, all of which are rejected by the princess herself. She possesses soft, honey coloured hair so long it reaches past her back. Her eyes are a deep, piercing blue colour. She is kind and outgoing, the opposite of her protector. She is far more intelligent than most give her credit for, Irulan has read most of the books in the royal library. Irulan loves to ride horses and visit all the parts of Kaylarth she can find, with or without her father’s approval. She is excellent in the royal court, knowing how to speak properly, to both make an argument and please others with her words. The two fall in love, that much is certain, but how is whole other matter. And what happens after that point, after their romance begins, that too is up for debate. Let the story begin.

  2. Digital Reality by Semeny Licket

Virtual reality gaming is all the rage, having advanced to a presentation in glorious 4k with 120 frames per second of progressive rendering. However, it's all a game. A program. Someone scripts it from start to finish, and it's a hollow experience when it ends. People have created rigs allowing them to walk in place and turn, enabling the obsession to grow to new heights in expenditure. However, one company flying below the radar, named Metavenation, promises cheap VR gear that the working class can afford in a few months of saving. Their slogan? "Here is where heroes are made." The general consensus is that you get what you pay for, and the masses assume the company is the equivalent of a traditional east-Asian bootleg. But it's something else entirely. The company remains in existence. Metavenation's headsets bring your consciousness to a whole new world--a universe that has existed alongside our own since the dawn of digital technologies, like an invisible shell emanating around the Earth. Though you won't notice it, time moves sixteen times faster, allowing all manner of wild creatures to evolve. They feed on the data of your programs, your applications, your documents, and so forth. Sometimes each other. We call them "Digimon". A portmanteau of "digital monsters".

A new "cold" is running rampant among young adults in the local university. Not surprisingly, it is not the sneezing and coughing that has people noticing this new strain. No, it is the other...symptoms...that people have taken notice of. Does anyone have a cure? Does anyone WANT a cure?
