well, to begin with

Tamara steers her ship to the engines and latches onto the ship. After making sure her ship is secured to the side of the engines Tamara heads to her cargo bay and hops into a large exo-skeleton she uses for working out in space, the suit is very flexible, and has all the tools she would need on it.

Tamara exits her ship in the suit and heads to the engines to inspect the damage close up. The engines have a few holes in them, likely laser damage from an enemy ship, but nothing too bad. Tamara goes to her ship opening up a hatch, a robot flies out of the hatch, the robot is a cargo holding type, designed to carry metals around for her to use to do patch work.

Tamara has the robot follow her as she goes to the engine hole and starts working on fixing it. As she works she notices that the edges of the hole are smooth... and there are no burns, as if the metal had been melted away by some sort of acid... but what could do that?
