The fights were held in a coliseum-like pit of packed down sand with stone walls. The matches were only by surrender, whether willing or not. In other words, they lost when they were knocked **** or gave verbal surrender. Shiro’s iron will and similarly toned body made her confident that she could make it through to the end of the tournament.

So long as no weapons were used, there was nothing to disqualify the fighters.
