love potion... kinda

"Call it a love potion," Lorna said as she thumbed through some noted and checked some things off with a pen.
"I will, if you like," Shiro conceded. "But what I call it and what it is are not the same?"
Lorna bit her lip a bit as Shiro saw through her play on words. "Yea... it's really more of a lust potion. Love potion was the first idea, but I was urged to make it something that could be weaponized more easily. Originally was supposed to help someone find their true love, then negotiated down to one that makes people fall in love, then eventually they agreed to allow me to pursue making a lust potion."
"And you're not free to research what you like?"

Lorna shrugged. "Eh, I can study whatever I want, long as they get notes on it to know I'm not doing anything sinister. If I want their funding and resources, that's where the lust potion comes in."
Shiro nodded, certainly getting how work for pay made sense to her. "And they believe a lust potion can be weaponized?"
"Oh, sure. A strong dose'll leave your opponent a masturbating, orgasm-craving mess. A dose in the water supply will make a village too distracted to fight back as much. Even a bomb, if you incorporate it into the discoveries out West with gunpowder."

Shiro looked over the equipment. She'd been in the hands of enough lovers to understand this, too, how lust could command someone. She saw the nobility in the alchemist's original goals, but also the practicality of the newest one.
