Chapter 7 by TheDespaxas TheDespaxas

the sleeper must awaken.

jailbreak

You opened your eyes.

You were cold and you had the mother of all headaches.

You were tied down in a gurney in a white room. Your head was covered in cables.

The Greys, those aliens were the nightmare of all sentient life, **** was often judged preferable to capture facing them. Their sadistic tendencies and love for experimental science made the worst butchers and psychopaths born to humanity look like innocent kids.

You were lucky that they used simulation and not outright **** to get knowledge out of you.

If they were trying so hard to get such intel they must be planning an attack. With the Acheron damaged and all its escort ships destroyed this sector was ****.

You had to get the info to the sector's fleet headquarter on Calderon. You use your implant, now free of the task of interfacing with the simulator to probe the room around you.

The cuffs that bind you to the gurney are electronic ones. You used everything you have, every tool or virus that you had stored along the years. After half an hour (29 more minutes that any human lock ever lasted) you managed to break the code and open the restraints.

You could open the door with ease after getting rid of the cables on your head.

You are naked and alone on an enemy ship. There is little risk involved in trying to escape though. What is awaiting you if you do nothing is an unspeakable doom, if you tried your chance out you at least had a chance of dying while getting out.

You walk the cold white hallways, hiding behind corners at any sound. You tried to hide your presence to the sensors but you were unsure of how much it worked. Five times already you had to run away as you spotted Greys, alone or in groups walking towards you.

You finally got to a thing that made you cry of joy.

In a deserted hangar stood the Gorgon, your ship was there, nearly intact apart from the blackened scars left by the torpedo.

You had little time for heroism or concern for your crew, it was by chance alone that you were able to get away, going back looking for Smith and Williams would be suicide.

You climbed onboard and ran, still naked, to the bridge. It was so frustrating, you had no weapons left and the hangar door wouldn't yield to you efforts to get it open. You had only one option. One that had a whole class dedicated to engrave in your brain that it should never be attempted.

Use the hypercore and jump from inside the other ship.

Ships jumping in hyperspace had to remain away from each other, the presence of any matter not jumping with you so close to you during the jump could have catastrophic effects.

The jump could deviate and have you appear inside a star or celestial body, you could merge with it and explode due to two pieces of matter trying to occupy the same spot. Or you could explode with the strength of a minor nova.

The choice was to risk **** or the largely worse future that was waiting for you here.

You entered the course to Calderon on the ship's computer, after overriding the 57 safeties and error messages that warned you not to do that, you were ready.
