I casually sauntered into the front hallway and sized up Officer 4862. Sure, an escape through the front door, with the liaison officer standing right next to it, that's not something anyone would want to try, right? And that's exactly what made this plan so perfect.

The other exits; the gymnastics wing, the English department, and the art wing, those were escapes that had been tried numerous times, and the rumors about their availability flew fast and furious - this is something the staff would take note of. But the front door... the front fucking door... that's something nobody would expect. More importantly, that's exactly the kind of action a K Girl would do.

Officer 4862 was spending a great deal of concentration getting the most enjoyment out of his Snickers bar, and once he saw the flash of Jane Doe fly by him, if he even saw it, he wouldn't have time to respond. By the time the doughy fool dropped his candy bar, I'd be in Trish's Mustang, taking off for more interesting places.

I checked that my laces were tight enough, and I took off. Staring at the horizon outside the front door, I sprinted with every ounce of energy I had. My arms were swinging wildly - so wildly in fact, that as I passed Officer 4862, I punched him right in the head.

To my head, it felt like I cold cocked him, although he must have been still conscious, as I heard a loud sound that sounded more like it came from a sea lion than a man. But my goal was coming closer to me, close enough that I could reach out and touch it.

I put both palms on the hood of Trish's '78 purple Mustang (safe to assume it was Trish's anyway, I doubt anyone else had one), and swiveled my neck behind me, seeing the school I had left in the dust.
