Arn paid great attention to his surroundings as he moved through the streets, trying to reacquaint himself with the city after having been away from it for so long. It had never really been his home, having been born and raised in the highlands that surrounded it, but he had begun his career as a mercenary there, gaining some much needed experience practicing his trade before eventually moving south to more prosperous areas, where the pay was higher and the risks tended to be lower.

It was when the great war started that he returned home and joined the Zatakian army, acting on a sense of patriotism that proved to be very much misguided.
Serving with distinction but never being promoted, not that he really minded that, Arn had been present when one of the last major cities in the southern empires had fallen to Zatakia’s armies, serving with one of the assaulting units and suddenly finding himself in the middle of a massively large city just as it was about to be looted.

Taking part in the looting and the pillaging, though he didn’t have the taste for **** against the unarmed and defenceless that some of his “comrades” had displayed, Arn had stumbled upon the daughter of one of the city’s most prominent priestesses, and it had pretty much been love at first sight.

Had it not been for the war bringing them together, Arn and Larissa would never have met and she would have followed in her mother’s footsteps and become a priestess, causing much heartache amongst the men around her that such a gorgeous woman, with her blonde hair, hourglass figure, strikingly beautiful facial features, big blue eyes and mountainous tits, would forsake marriage and instead dedicate her life to the cult of Xira, the local fertility goddess. Instead Larissa had sworn herself to Arn practically seconds after they first laid eyes upon each other, and within minutes of that happening, he had deflowered her and pledged that he would bring her to safety. Instead, he had been **** by Igren, a fellow soldier and a man he had thought of as a brother, and awaken to find himself stripped of everything except his loincloth, with Larissa nowhere in sight and Captain Fiore there to tell him that he was a deserter who was to be sold as a ****. There had been no mention of Larissa’s whereabouts, but Arn could guess that Fiore had decided to claim her for himself, his greed and lust driving him to betray one of his own soldiers.

Having been bought by Kadiros, a local noble who had switched sides and who was now working with Zatakia, Arn had been chosen to become a gladiator and had been put into training as such, with the aim being that he and those who shared his fate would be quite skilled in killing each other in spectacular and thrilling ways when the time came to re-establish the gladiatorial games once peace had left people bored and thirsty for some good old-fashioned stabbing and maiming.

Leading the ****-revolt that had seen Kadiros loose his head, Arn had stolen what he could carry from that bastard’s country mansion and **** camp and headed north, hoping Fiore had returned to his home and had brought Larissa with him.

Coming from a family that was rich even before the great war, Captain Fiore wouldn’t be hard to find, but the tricky part was to kill him and take back Larissa.
First though, Arn should probably use some of the gold coins that he carried with him to get himself a room for the night and a shave and some new clothes. Perhaps even a woman, it would be good to get that particular itch scratched before he set out to save Larissa and kill Fiore.
