a Shiro double

Shiro crouched by the pond, its waters still and showing no sign of fish or any real life. Just a clear reflection of the pink-headed samurai. She looked it over to be sure, then shrugged and started back.
“Wait…”
Shiro paused in mid-step, lingering there and turning back to the water. It was still just her reflection, nothing more. It waved at her.
“…hello.”
The reflection smiled back at her, moving on its own along the water’s edge like a horizon. “Were you visiting?”
“Passing through,” Shiro said, warily staying from the water’s edge. She took a half step back when the reflection reached up through the water, climbing out like a solid object.
“That’s… interesting…” purred Mirror Shiro.
