Your mom remains out of sight for the next week while the funeral is planned

The next couple days were rather tense. Your father continued to act distant and you could see how it hurt your mom. And it couldn't be easy for them as they discussed the plans for her funeral. Conversation was strained with the rest of you too - you and your siblings felt like there was a stranger in your house, though you knew it was your mother. Your mom, in turn, had to feel out of place as well. She looked very odd in her old clothes - your mom's things didn't fit her new body very well at all. And with her greater height and different shape, the house suddenly seemed unfamiliar to her, as if she no longer fit.

It became more complicated when neighbors and friends started calling and coming by to offer their condolences. Your mom kept out of sight, not feeling ready yet to deal with lying to everyone. And you guessed that she feared what they might when they saw her - even worse, some of them might recognize her.

You wanted to do more to help your mom but you were sidetracked by Allison. It took all your concentration to maintain to her the fiction of your mom's ****. When you finally begged off from Allison by telling her you needed to spend time with your family for now, you realized that your mom had been pretty much isolated upstairs for the whole day.

You resolved to do something to help distract her; you were afraid she would sink into depression given the way things were going. Maybe you could take her to Amber's place? You were a little afraid of what you would find there, but it would be a reason to get your mom out of the house. She needed to get id and clothes anyway - and wouldn't Stephanie have had a car?
