Chapter 11 by HistoricoPublius HistoricoPublius

Time for bed.

The next morning...

The next day dawns gray and slightly drizzly. You're disoriented for a moment, waking in the larger bed than you're used to and in a strange room. But after a moment, the previous day's events come back to you{if Polyxena > 0}, and you smile in satisfaction at the memory of your Greek slut{endif}.

Rising, you stretch and contemplate how to go about your day. You clearly need to find a way to take care of this "She-Wolf of the Tiber" (if she exists) and her band of robbers. The only question is how. You could begin by talking to the local Roman Legion - after all, by rights they should be the ones who are dealing with the problem. Then again, maybe the fact that they haven't is an important sign of their usefulness (or lack thereof). You could also ask around among the other local landholders, though you're sure many of them are absentee. Still, whoever's tending to their estates might have some information for you. Or you could talk to the slaves working your own land. You never know what they might know, and some might be more willing to talk about it with you - a relative stranger - than with Adolphus or his family.

That thought prompts the realization that there's also the question of whether you should set about this task alone, or ask someone to accompany you...

Which lead will you pursue?
