You look a little lost

“Hi, you look a little lost. You waiting for someone?”

Julia´s eyes narrowed and she eyed the friendly stranger, a young girl with Asian features. She was cute, standing maybe five-four, with dark long hair.

“Uh, no. Why do you ask?”

“Oh, I just saw you there and thought I could help. I live here, you see. I was waiting for my sister but she just called and said she missed the bus! Can I give you directions to a motel or something?”

“Well, I am looking for a cheap place to stay,” Julia said.

The young girl laughed. “Well, there´s cheap and nasty and decent and expensive – which did you have in mind?” She stuck out a hand. “I´m Katie, by the way.”

The girl took it. “I´m Julia. Julia Doe.“

„Where ya from, Julia?“

"Indiana. Evansville."

„And what brings you out to our beautiful city?“

“I´m going to be an actress!”

What a fucking joke. Katie herself had been one of the innocents who had passed through the dirty bus station two months ago.

Like so many others, she had dreams of being "discovered" before she ran out of money and her pimp Tyrone turned her into a cheap whore.

“Well, good for you. If you want, I can show you around, help you find a place to stay.”

“Oh, would you? That would be ever so nice of you!”
