You did mediocre

Jess is willing to work with you, but she has some reservations about how you acted in front of her.

"He could've done better, boss," Jess says as she folds her creamy freckled arms and nods towards Erin. "He did great but didn't give off the vibes I was looking for. All in all, good enough."

Erin says nothing, and neither do you. It looks like your initial encounter with Jess was a test gauging how you'd react to the pledges. It looks like the repertoire you built over years of **** dealing including stuff like threatening, gaslighting, and taking advantage of someone wasn't enough for Jess to place her trust in you.

"I mean, if he had a tough time against me, how am I supposed to believe that he'd survive in a group situation with the girls? He'll need help if he wants to continue. We can't afford for him to hesitate go limp when a girl needs to be punished."

Erin does get the final word here, so she diplomatically says, "Noted. Honestly though, it was on par with what we expected, albeit my expectations weren't high... But you can do with that what you will. Jezebel, I want the pledges to be finished as soon as possible, so please assist him"

Erin sounds a bit disappointed, too.

Erin takes charge by splitting your authority with Jess. "You both take your orders from me," the blonde tells you, "but Jess is your subordinate. You'd do well to learn a thing or two from her, she knows the freshmen better than you do."

Jess is sporting a bemused nonchalance. Your loss is her gain, it would seem. You're excited to have this irreverent redhead working 'under' you, though.

"Wasn't the whole point of you calling me to welcome new students for the sorority?" you ask, wondering where this is going. "Honestly though, this looks like planning to terrorize innocent freshmen."
