You are told Randall died and you hallucinated the news about the transplant.

You faded in and out of consciousness several times. You vaguely recalled being given some shots, but you had no sense of time, with everything blurring together. You finally came around to see Doctor Saunders speaking to your parents. The conversation kept dropping in and out as you struggled to fully awaken.

"It was a rather big shock ... set him back some days...was time to take him off the sedatives..."

"Mom? Dad?" you croaked, blinking blearily at them.

"Tim!" your mom cried out, rushing over to embrace you. "How are you feeling, son?" you dad added as he followed her across the room.

"Okay, I think," you croaked. Your mom handed you a cup of water and you took a long drink. As you finished you tried to puzzled through what happened. "Were we in a wreck?" you asked.

"yes, dear," your mom said softly, taking your hand. "But you're alright."

"I had the strangest dream about Randall..." you started to say but stopped as you saw your parents exchange a look with Doctor Saunders. "No...it couldn't have been real..." you whispered.

"I...I'm afraid it's true, Tim," your mom said, giving your hand a gentle squeeze.

"Randall died in the accident," she explained patiently. "It was instant. He didn't suffer."

"But...but what about the transplant?" you stuttered in confusion. "Brain transplant?" you pressed when you saw everyone's confused look.

Your dad gave a sad chuckle. "That must have been some dream."

The doctor explained "Tim probably had some hallucinations. He was rather shook-up from the accident, and was on some powerful pain meds."

You talked for a bit longer before fatigue set in and you dozed back off. You quickly recovered your strength, though, and were ready to be discharged in a couple days.

You never again saw Doctors Saunders or Kerry, and eventually accepted the idea that you had hallucinated the whole thing after you passed out from hearing about Randall's ****.

You were discharged from the hospital and, after a few weeks things became semi-normal. But the loss of your best friend left a big whole in your life, leaving you depressed and listless. Then one night received a major shock.
