You are suddenly stopped by a group of men in black suits
Chapter by Wassel
===================================================================================================================
"Ah, Mrs. Jenson," a voice suddenly stopped you in your tracks half way up the hall, causing you to jerk your eyes from the floor, and up towards three, tall dark suited gentlemen standing less than three feet away. Instinctively you jumped in fright, not expecting to be snuck up on, and especially not by anyone dressed the way these three men were. It was obvious from their attire that they were not doctors, the expensive black suits and dark tinted glasses each man wore definitely seeming out of place in the busy hospital ward, not to mention the fact that they looked almost identical; same height, build and even hairstyle.
"Sorry, Mrs. Jenson, I didn't mean to startle you," the man in the middle apologized, his voice rather calm and soothing, in stark contrast to his intimidating appearance. "My name is Albert Smith, and these are my colleagues Mr. White and Mr. Johnston," he continued, indicating to his companions before stepping forward and holding out his hand, his body towering above your mother's much smaller frame, "and we're with the hospital's insurance company. As we'll be taking care of your son welfare for the foreseeable future, we thought we'd just come down and see how you were all coping with everything."
"Uh...huh-hello..." you weakly smiled, putting out your mother's trembling hand to meet his and give it a rather weak shake.
Really this was the last thing you needed, having finally managed to escape your hospital room and Mindy thinking you'd gone crazy, now you'd walked face first into a trio of insurance guys, insurance guys who would no doubt have millions of questions and stuff about hospital bills and things you had no idea how to answer, even if you could in your current freaked out state.
"How is Josh by the way? Any changes in his condition?" Mr. Smith then inquired after letting go of your hand, his face curious and questioning, but his voice strangely monotonous as if he was only pretending to care and was in fact after something else entirely (not that you could really tell though, your mind currently being elsewhere and not entirely focused on what he was saying).
There was a short pause, where all three men just patiently waited for you to answer as you stood there with no real idea how to reply, not exactly wanting to tell him that they had been a huge change in his condition and that they were currently speaking with him right now. Instead, you finally just said the first thing that sprang to mind (which was pretty much the exact same thing you'd told your mom earlier as Mindy), "Um, he...he's stable, I think. Thats what the, uh, the nurse told me..."quickly adding, after realizing you could try and fob these guys onto Mindy, "She's in there right now actually, if you want to talk to her. She's bound to know more."
"Yes, I'm sure we'll do that, Mrs. Jenson."
Unfortunately his reply didn't really give you any indication whether or not he was going to do it now or later, and becoming incredibly **** now to escape, feeling more and more self-conscious with each passing moment, you then rather frantically told him, "Listen, I'm uh, I'm sorry but nows not exactly the best time for me to chat about um, insurance and stuff. Muh-maybe you should wait to talk to my...my huh-husband." You couldn't help but let out an awkward little gulp as you said it, the very idea of calling your dad your husband being extremely uncomfortable, and not something you really wanted to think about.
"Of course, there's no rush. I'm sure we'll sort all that out in due time, so you needn't have to worry," he simply smiled, placing a hand firmly on your shoulder, causing you once again to let out a little jolt, thinking you might inadvertently swap bodies again. You didn't however, and instead Smith just continued talking, his reaction being not quite what you expected from a man of his profession. "In fact, seeing as Josh is apparently stable for the moment, perhaps it might be best if you went home and got some rest. There's really nothing more you can do here, and my colleagues and I do have to consult with Josh's doctor. We want to make sure your son is comfortable and that the hospital is doing everything in its power to get him back to his old self again."
"Fat chance of that," you laughed inwardly to yourself, pretty sure that three creepy dudes in suits weren't going to be able to solve your current "body ownership" issues, though at the same time, relieved that they were letting you off so easily and not chasing after your mom for every penny they could get.
While you weren't sure if leaving the hospital was the best option or not right now, you did figure it would be the perfect excuse for you to find somewhere a little more private to figure out what the hell was going on and pull yourself together, fearing that you might pass out from stress if you hung about here any longer, trapped inside your mom's body, so quickly agreed with the accountant, thanking him and his colleagues for their consideration.
"Good, that's settled then," he said, flashing another (less than genuine) smile, directing you down the hall with one hand and giving you a little nudge on the back with the other to send you on your way, "Have a good day, Mrs. Jenson, and just you leave Josh's treatment to us. We'll make sure he gets the best of care."
Glad to finally away from them, you let out a relieved sigh as you trundled off down the hallway, still wobbling slightly in your mother's heels and taking one last glance over your shoulder as you went, finding to your surprise that the three men were still standing there watching you, as if to make sure you were actually going to leave. Maybe it was their appearance; the dark suits and sunglasses reminding you more of government agents from movies than anything to do with insurance (the fact that they were all well built and incredibly masculine looking being a far cry from the nerdy, number crunchers the job title would suggest) or perhaps the strange manner in which Smith had spoken, but for some reason you couldn't help feeling there was something more to these three men than met the eye, something that you couldn't quite put your finger on...at least not yet.
Not that you could really give it too much thought at the moment of course, having far more pressing concerns on your mind, concerns that you couldn't help be reminded of with every step you took. The feminine heels messing with your balance, the tight business skirt pulling against your legs, the disconcerting bounce of your exceptionally heavy chest, as well as the long black hair that continually swished somewhat annoyingly in front of your eyes, these were the sensation that were currently running through your body and into your head. Sensations not of the 15 year old body you should be in, but of the 45 year old woman you now possessed. It was of course physically not all that different than when you'd been inside Mindy (well apart from some obvious distribution of weight), but mentally, well there was absolutely no comparison. You were no longer just inside the body of a woman, you were inside the body of your own mother, the woman who'd raised you and cared for you, and who less than five minutes ago sat by your bedside sobbing her eyes out while her son...you, lay in a coma. It was all so wrong in so many ways, and it was really freaking you out like nothing before.
