You are propositioned

You sit in the car as you go over the last minute details before going into the restaurant.

"Remember, you can't let him know that you're a teacher, that would get us both fired. Just tell him that you're a stay-at-home mom. Any other questions?" You tell him that you think you're all set. "Alright, let's go, Mrs. Danvers."

You and Greg enter the fancy restaurant arm in arm. He tells the maitre d' that you are here to see Nichols and you are led to a table where a single man is sitting. You carefully observe the man. He's definitely older, but that gives him a distinguished look. You might even call him handsome. He must've been a really good-looking man back in the day.

As soon as he spots the pair of you, he stands up and greets you both.

"Greg, how are you?" He extends his arm and shakes hands with your 'husband.'

"I'm doing great, sir. I hope we didn't keep you waiting too long."

"Nonsense, and who is this lovely lady?"

"This is my wife, Katherine, sir."

"It's so very nice to meet you, Mr. Nichols." You reach out your hand. He grabs it and places a kiss on top of it.

"The pleasure is all mine, Katherine. Please, call me Tom. That goes for you too, Greg. None of this 'sir' crap. Now please, let's sit down."

You sit down and order some food. You enjoy a nice conversation with Tom and Greg before the food comes. You share several funny stories that actually happened with James, but just replace his name with Greg's. The food arrives, and you all have several glasses of wine with your meals. You are feeling slightly tipsy as you laugh along to some of Greg's stories. You can see that Tom is constantly checking you out through the corner of his eyes, and you find it rather flattering. Suddenly, Greg said that he has to use the bathroom and leaves the table. You are now left alone with Tom.

"Greg is really a great guy. I think he could do a great job if you chose him to succeed you."

"Yeah, he is good, but I don't think he will get the job. Another principal I met with the other day, has much more experience and he seems like a better fit for the job."

"Greg may not have the same amount of experience as the other candidates, but that's because he's moved up so fast. He's great at what he does, that's why he is where he is. More experience is not necessary when he already knows what he's doing. I think it would be a mistake not hire him. He is..."

"Hey, slow down," Tom interrupts you. "There is something that Greg has over the other guy."

"What's that?"

"A smoking hot wife." You take a few seconds to process his answer

"You're gonna hire Greg because I'm hotter than the other guy's wife?" You ask, rather naively.

"No, no, no. I'm not just gonna hire him for that. The question is, how much do you want your husband to get this job?"

What Tom is suggesting finally clicks in your head. A hundred different emotions run through your brain at once. The wine you drank earlier is only clouding your thought processes. You should be getting up and slapping Tom across the face, but you just sit there. Suddenly, a single concious thought pushes to the front of your brain.

'How much do you want Greg to get this job?'
