There is no point in antagonizing him further and forcing his hand to hit you harder than necessary, so when he takes off the ballgag you don't do what you really want to do - you don't scream profanites at him, you are silent. And a little afraid. You still feel the sting from the previous hits and you don't want to feel anything similar to that.

"So" he asks "you didn't scream at me, so I guess we can assume that you are polite. Now, answer my question: Do you like it?"

It's a stupid question. How can you like something so brutal, so hurtful, so humiliating?
