Chapter 18 by leroy leroy

Will you fight?

Yes

Lily left you alone after that, letting you think about it as you went to your room. Dinner was quite pleasant with everyone making sure to avoid the subject of the upcoming conflict and the issues it was likely to bring. In the end, it was an easy decision to make. Your home was also being threatened by the Queendom, fighting for the Vikings certainly wasn't something you would have expected but it was the best way available for you to benefit the Directorate. As well as yourself considering Lily's offer to let you keep any slaves you captured. As the campaign went on that would only become more and more valuable to you. There was also the fact that Lily was even making that offer, she could have sent you on as a whore for Adi or the crew's entertainment. You knew being grateful for her not doing that was likely the result of Stockholm Syndrome but that didn't make the gratitude any less real.

The next morning you awoke and went outside to see Lily waiting for her recruits and gave her your decision.

"I'll fight. When will we leave?" You asked Lily pulled out her handheld and input a few things before answering.

"Noon, that's why I needed your answer this morning." She put away her handheld and turned to face you, her expression showing concern. "While you're up there watch out for Adi. This'll be her first time out since... just keep an eye on her. I know I haven't had much time to teach you more than you already knew but keep up with your drills. There's more at stake here than I'm allowed to tell you. Don't get captured, don't let Adi get captured. Especially if you're against a woman named Princess Victoria. I took her twin sister in a raid and she's been vowing **** ever since. She'll push the Code to its limits if she gets her hands on Adi." You nodded your understanding. Considering your own treatment thus far you couldn't really picture Lily doing something that would build up that kind of grudge. Then again you had only known her for a short time. She was still your master however and if you could protect Adi you would. Whether you would sacrifice yourself for her was a question that would have to wait.

"I'll do my best." You promised and that seemed enough for her. You heard a bus pulling in as you re-entered the house to get your gear ready for travel. Heading off to where you would likely fight your second battle under a different faction's banner. You hoped that you wouldn't make a habit of switching after each one.
