Chapter 6 by Shandy Shandy

Does she say yes? Or no?

Yes

"Merci M'sieur," Aurelie said with a shy blush. "You are very kind. I would be delighted."

"It's me who should thank you Mam'selle," he smiled at her. "For gracing me with your presence." He offered his arm with courtesy she had not expected in North America. With a blushing smile she took it, and let him lead her across the street to a restaurant with a large patio.

He seemed to be well known there, and they were quickly shown to a table on the patio. He held her chair for her, and she smiled in thanks, surprised at the little excited flutter in her tummy as he smiled back.

"I think wine or a cocktail would be appropriate for a lunch between new friends. Cocktail? They make an excellent mojito here. Yes? Two of those," he nodded to the waitress.

He chatted and charmed her, making some menu suggestions until the drinks arrived. He ordered food for both of them, then raised his in a toast.

"To chance meetings, that hopefully turn into long friendships," he smiled at her, clinking glasses.

"But I am only here a week," she smiled in soft protest.

"The world is a smaller place than it once was Aurelie. Distance need not be a hindrance to friendship." He gave her a lazy smile and she felt her belly flutter again.

Their meals came and as they ate he chatted glibly about the city, while asking interested question about her and her impressions. She discovered that he had a graphic art studio in a loft up the street, doing work for advertising agencies and occasionally for the film industry. She found herself loosening up, and didn't object when he ordered more cocktails.

He was very charming, she thought. He made her laugh, and he was flirtatious without being heavy handed about it. And handsome too, she added, with another flutter in her tummy.

What next?
