Emma flinched and then gently disentangled herself from Edward's grasp as her Uncle's large hands made contact with her bottom.

She looked towards the floor feeling immediately embarrassed.

Edward stammered out an apology, "My God, I'm sorry, Em! Guess you're a bit taller than Maude. Usually my back rub when we hug only gets the small of her back, not her, well-" Edward swallowed hard and looked around, embarrassed as well.

"No, no, it's OK. It happens, I guess, just caught me by surprise," Emma said, trying to lower the awkwardness of the situation.

The two met eyes again and shared a nervous smile.

"How about we get your stuff up to your room and let you relax for a bit?" Edward offered.

"Sure, that's fine," Emma said, feeling the weird moment slip away.

Her Uncle picked up the suitcase and shouted to the kitchen, "We're going up to Jake's old room, Love!"

Maude yelled back at them from the kitchen, "OK, Dear, get her settled in and show her where everything is. I'll bring you some tea once it's done, Emmy."

Edward gave Emma a nod and lead her up the creaking stairs. At the top they turned to the first room on the left. Ed set the suitcase down and said, "This is you. Jake's old room. He's at college, though might stop by this weekend. Across the hall is the bathroom. Your Cousin's rooms are next to that. Jenny's there, and James' is across from her. Your Aunt and I are at the end of the hall. You make yourself comfortable and feel right at home. If you need anything, you just ask, you hear?"

Edward paused a moment as if he was about to hug her again, but feeling afraid to try after what happened downstairs. For a fleeting moment Emma thought Ed looked like a bellboy waiting for a tip.
