As Mac leaves the hastily constructed surgical tent Mary comes up to him trying to hold back tears then she asks him "Is he gonna be alright?" Mac responds with "I don't know... but I've done all I can, whether he makes it or not is up to him and God now." Then Mary responds with "I just wish the fighting would stop, because war has always weakened yet somehow oxymoronically strengthened humanity as a species, because in a war only the strong survive while in the background the screams and cries of the weak slowly fade into blissful, peaceful nothingness, yet it weakens us as a whole because it destroys our ties to each other." To which Mac responds with a tear in his eye "I agree and that is why I enlisted to make a difference, to make war unnecessary."
