Chapter 8
by WaterMage
Does she hit him?
Yes
The portal was already glowing with baleful energies, and in its depths Melancthe could see a hideous form taking shape. The gate was positioned so it could see up the V of her spread legs, and although it was still vague and misty, she could see that the monster’s eyes were fixed on her sex, and its pose conveyed eagerness.
Terror and desperation drove her as she levelled her finger at Kohorn and spoke the words. For a second which seemed like an eternity, nothing happened, and she wondered if the imp had mislead her. But then the ring heated up on her finger, and there was a deafening whooshing sound. The air between her and the wizard seemed to ripple, and he was thrown backwards.
He hit the wall with a thud, his spell cut off in mid-sentence. The air crackled with raw power as the spell ran wild. The creature in the portal screamed in fury and frustration as its form faded, drawn back to whatever hell it came from. Then, it was gone.
There was silence, and Melancthe began to think about how she could escape from the chains. But then she froze, hearing a sound that terrified her. Kohorn was moving! Perhaps the ring had been less effective than she’d expected, perhaps she hadn’t hit him full on, or perhaps he’d had wards against such an attack. Whatever the reason, the sorcerer was now getting to his feet, and she trembled at the thought of his reaction to her attack.
How does he react?
