Yellow

Dianne looks up at Natalie. “It’s yellow.”

Natalie raises her voice and speaks to everyone. “The sisters have spoken. John Doe is to pay for his insult in a year of servitude to this house.”

You look around in shock. “What? I said one thing and I have to pay for it for a whole year.” You shake your head, “No way. I won’t do it.”

Natalie says, “Very well, if that is what you wish, then you shall not do it.”

You breathe a sigh of relief. Natalie then adds, “You shall be expelled from school instead.”

“Oh come on!” you shout. “You can’t do that!”

Natalie calmly says, “Oh yes we can. You know we can. You have two options now, either accept judgment or leave school.”

You put your hand to your head. How the hell did you end up in this situation? You can’t let yourself get expelled, not after everything you had to go through to get into this college. <<Maybe I’ll just play along for awhile until I can figure some way out of this mess,>> you think to yourself.

“All right,” you say. “I’ll stay.”

“Wise decision,” Natalie intones. She raises her voice and speaks to everyone. “From this moment until this same moment a year from now, John is a servant bound to this house. Any sister may ask anything of him and he must do it, so long as it will not permanently harm him or others. If he refuses an order...” Natalie pauses and smirks, “Well, we all know that he'd better not.”

The crowd of girls giggles and pushes around you. Some of them are already barking orders. “Go and clean my bathroom!” “Get me some pizza!” “Bark like a dog!” are just a few of the commands you hear.

Natalie wades into the crowd and puts her hands up. “Girls, as richly as he deserves punishment, he can’t do everything at once.” She pauses for a second, thinking. She then says, “In the interests of maintaining order, for the first week I will assign him to serve a different girl every day.”

“Who gets him first?” asks a blonde haired Asian girl.
