Working on the raft

After the race, Kairi soon has you and Riku back to work with some last minute additions to the list of supplies.

After being pecked by an angry seagull for an egg, flopping around in the water for some fish, and knocking down a few coconuts, you start to look for those elusive mushrooms.

You manage to find a few, but you kind of want to impress Kairi and find just a few more.

The secret place comes to mind. It's dark, damp. Seems like the perfect place to find some mushrooms.

You crawl into the Secret Place and walks through an underground tunnel with roots lining the walls. You reach a familiar room made of walled boulders with chalk drawings scribbled on them. A faint light filters in from above.

As you examine the room, you find a small group of mushrooms near the weird door looking thing and pick them up.

As you move to stand up, a certain drawing catches your eye. You remember back when you were little, shortly after the meteor shower. You brought Kairi here when you were showing her around the Island. She came up with the idea of writing on the walls with chalk. The two of you ended up drawing each other.

You can easily recognize her drawing of you, she was always really good at drawing, but your drawing of her is barely recognizable.

You pick up a rock and start drawing, You know Kairi never comes down here anymore, and while you may not be able to share a Paupu fruit with her in person, you can do it in this drawing. She may not ever see it, but it still feels right.

Suddenly you feel a presence near you and bolt to your feet.

"Wh-who’s there?" You ask, looking around and seeing no one but yourself.

"I’ve come to see the door to this world." An ominous voice replies, echoing off the walls.

"Huh?"

Door? You think to yourself. What door?

"This world has been connected."

"Wh-What are you talking about?" You stammer in reply, still confused and startled.

"Tied to the darkness... Soon to be completely eclipsed."

Darkness? Eclipsed?

"Well, whoever you are, stop freaking me out like this. Huh?"

You finally notice a cloaked man standing in the corner.

"Wh-Where did you come from?"

"You do not yet know what lies beyond the door"

Beyond the door?

"So, you’re from another world!"

"There is so very much to learn. You understand so little."

"Oh, yeah? Well, you’ll see. I’m gonna get out and learn what’s out there!"

"A meaningless effort. One who knows nothing can understand nothing."

With that, he vanishes as quickly as he came. You look around for him but there's no sign of him anywhere.
